Biometric Cards and tokens

Multifactor authentication is a sign-on process where your identity is verified with three factors: Firstly, ‘something you know’, like a password or PIN; secondly, ‘something you have’, like a card or a token; finally, ‘something you are’, like your fingerprint. IDEX’ technology brings security to the next level by enabling on-card fingerprint systems comprising of the fingerprint reader, verification software and fingerprint data incorporated in the card or token.

A significant advantage is that fingerprint data is not stored on remote servers or other places, but only on the card itself. There is no need for special external fingerprint readers, and existing infrastructure can be used. The privacy and security issues related to conventional fingerprint ID and other biometric card systems are solved by the on-card fingerprint solutions.

IDEX SmartFinger^® technology is able to offer a complete embedded biometric authentication solution tailored specifically for card applications such as Online banking, Secure Network Access, Secure Online Shopping and National and governmental ID programs.

The small and thin flexible form factor of the SmartFinger^® Film sensor complies with the ISO 7810 form factor for biometric cards. Combining the extremely small software footprint with cost effective low resource microcontrollers the Smartfinger^® Film sensor is perfectly suited for Biometric cards for ID and transactions such One Time Password cards, Identification cards.

Personal fingerprint information never leaves the secure environment of a SmartFinger equipped device. The device is autonomous and self-authenticating; the need for external inputs to the authentication process is eliminated.
